Wild Bird Photography in Greece by Panos Oikonomou
" Birding in Greece for years has given me many exiting moments, unique experiences and vivid emotions. Bird watching and photographing birds has also given me the chance to travel and see another unknown to many,Greece. Due to its geographical location, my country has still got a rich avifauna but for many species of birds and animals the future seems uncertain.
In contrast to bird watching, photographing wild birds in their natural environment in Greece is not always an easy subject.
The birds frightened by ruthless killing, are usually nervous and keep staying at longer distances compared to other European countries. That's why the use of long telephoto lenses is often a must.
The wild birds and animals of Greece must be protected and shown in any way and at any cost. For all photos of this web page extra care was taken in order to cause minimum disturbance to the birds. All material was taken by photographing wild free birds and animals in their natural environment. No photos from zoos or wildlife hospitals were used.
This site, which is the result of many years of work, is dedicated to my daughter Alkyone.
Special thanks to Mr. Roy Clarke for his precious help."

RSPB
Their work is driven by a passionate belief that we all have a responsibility to protect birds and the environment. Bird populations reflect the health of the planet on which our future depends.
The need for an effective bird conservation organisation has never been greater. Climate change, agricultural intensification, expansion of urban areas and transport infrastructure, and over-exploitation of our seas all pose major threats to birds.
The RSPB could not exist without its supporters and members. Whether you join us, give a donation, purchase items from us or undertake voluntary work, your support is vital to the future of birds and the places where they live.

Barry Meade Photography FRPS, AFIAP (Wildlife and Landscape Photography)
I became involved with photography while studying Fine Art and used it as a recording tool. During my early years as an art teacher photography became a consuming passion as well as part of my teaching work. By the 1980's I was involved in large format landscape work and very original creative pieces stretching darkroom techniques to their limits.
From 1985 I have been exhibiting widely, including one-man shows in Dublin and the Royal Photographic Society, Octagon,Bath. For many years I ran workshops at the RPS in Bath and as far away as Malta.
I became a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in 1990 and was awarded the 1991 Fenton Medal of the RPS. Work from this period can be found in collections in the UK , Europe and North America. I gave up full-time teaching in 1998 and I am now involved with photography full-time. Since 1998 I have had the time to develope my Wildlife Photography, much of which, has been accepted in International Exhibitions in the Uk and around the world.
All my work is taken on Nikon cameras and lenses and is now entirely digital.

The Bristol Photographic Society is one of the oldest photographic groups in the Bristol area. The origins of the Society can be traced through to a number of mergers in the early 1900s and today it is still actively providing a vigorous programme catering for the wide photographic interests of its members. The Society is fortunate in owning its own premises and is thus able to encourage complete freedom in providing a variety of separately run programmes: basic photography courses, meetings, outings, folios, competitions, specialist groups, a library and studio facillities, all held in a friendly and convivial atmosphere. The Society meets every Wednesday at 7-30pm.

James Lynch a professional painter for 30 years
Have a look at James paintings, you will be amazed.
James Lynch was born in 1956 and has been painting professionally for thirty years. From his first sell-out exhibition in the 1980’s he went on to win awards and prizes from the Royal Academy, the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and the Spectator. His patrons include the National Trust, the Folio Society and many eminent private collectors. He exhibits regularly with the Maas Gallery in London. He became known in the 1980’s and 90’s for his monumental animals set in visionary landscapes, but his recent work focusses on the Somerset and Dorset landscape and its different moods at times of day, seasonal light and dramatic weather.James paints using the ancient medium of egg tempera. He mixes traditional gesso from raw ingredients and makes his paint according to Quattrocento recipes, using pure ground pigments, egg yolk and water. The paint is built up in thin layers and the surface hardens to one of the most durable and lightfast there is, with a sheen which gives a translucent glow to the colours.
"One can hardly imagine a more laborious, slow-maturing process. It probably accounts for the extraordinary sense of balance Lynch achieves in his work as though he is placing us at the still centre of the moving world."
John Russell Taylor, The Times Art Critic James is married to painter, Kate Lynch, and they live on a hill overlooking the Somerset Levels and Moors where his studio commands breathtaking views over King’s Sedgemoor towards Glastonbury Tor. His interest in paragliding provides inspiration for his paintings.
He welcomes enquiries, commissions and studio visits.

THE NEW FOREST EXPLORERS’ GUIDE
Hello, and welcome to the New Forest Explorers’ Guide, a web site designed for those who want to know more about the New Forest, its landscape, history, wildlife and villages.
My name is Andrew Walmsley and I’ve produced the site to share with others something of the special characteristics of this old hunting Forest. I hope all who browse here find the contents informative, but more importantly, enjoy the experience.
Some, though, might have misgivings about anything that attracts others to an already popular area, but surely the majority of those with a genuine interest in the subjects dealt with here should be made welcome, for they will respect and care for this and other such places. However, not everybody is well-meaning, and even today wildlife is threatened by collectors and over-enthusiastic visitors to fragile habitats. Consequently, the exact location of rare species is not revealed unless already well-known.

Bird and Insect Macro Photography By Matt Latham
Originally from North Wales, I have been living in Lincoln, England, with my fiancee for over 5 years. During the week I'm a Project Manager for an Environmental Consultancy, which means my time for photography is limited and, therefore, even more precious to me.
I have been interested in wildlife, particularly birds, for over 25 years and am fortunate that the hobby has taken me around the world. However, I have only been interested in photography for about the last 3 years and often think back to those potential images which I could have captured if only I was interested in photography at that time.
Photography has enabled me to look at wildlife in a new refreshing light and trying to capture an image which comprises a mix of detail, context of the subject's environment and importantly, an image I think people will enjoy looking at, is a big motivation.
Please feel free to contact me via the 'Contact Form' accessed via the link at the top right of the screen, or direct to matt_latham@hotmail.co.uk. I would love to hear from you.
